BLINDFOLDED WORKSHOP WITH SANDRA
Practicing Yoga blindfolded can significantly enhance your sensory awareness, imagination and creativity. Without the visual distractions of the environment, we are encouraged to focus more intently on our other senses – touch, sound, and the sense of body position (Proprioception). This heightened awareness can lead to a deeper understanding of body alignment and movement, allowing us to connect more profoundly with our physical sensations.
What do we do?
– we start with a body awareness practice and introduction to the following blindfolded Yoga sequence with open eyes
– blindfolded we begin with basic standing yoga asanas that ease any anxiety practicing without sight
– we integrate also balancing asanas for which you decide the level of difficulty (e.g. leaving hands from the floor or not)
– Yoga Nidra and Savasana
How do we do it?
– very slow and blindfolded throughout the practice
– you will be given instructions with clear verbal cues that guide you through poses ensuring safety and proper alignment
-we concentrate on our breath using it as an anchor that helps maintaining focus and calmness
– incorporate mindfulness technique such as body scanning or visualisation that deepen your connection with your body
-Post-Practice reflections; after the session we take time to reflect on our experience by writing down about how it felt to practice blindfolded, what challenges arose, and what insights you gained
Experiencing a blindfolded Yoga practice offers numerous advantages that enhance both physical practice and mental wellbeing. By focusing on sensory awareness, mindfulness, trust-building, intuition development, and personal growth challenges, we can gain valuable insights into ourselves while cultivating a deeper connection with our yoga practice.
Can everybody join?
Yes! you do have an advantage if you joined some yoga classes before. Anyways, the technical cues will be explicit and clear, and we move very slow, that makes it accessible to everybody.
